An Act Concerning Liquor Permits for Nonprofit Theaters.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 30-35a of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof:
(a) A nonprofit theater permit shall allow the retail sale of alcoholic liquor by a nonprofit theater to be consumed on its premises by patrons on any day on which a performance is given and twelve other days per year; provided the proceeds derived from such sales, except for reasonable operating costs, shall be used in furtherance of the charitable, literary and educational activities of such theater. The annual fee for a nonprofit theater permit shall be two hundred dollars.
(b) "Nonprofit theater" means an organization organized for nonprofit, charitable, literary and educational purposes to which has been issued a ruling by the Internal Revenue Service classifying it as an exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and which carries on a program of performing arts for the general public at a theater located on its premises.
