School Paraprofessional Staffing

This study focused on instructional paraprofessional staffing policies and practices in Connecticut K-12 public schools. In particular, the study described the range of responsibilities paraprofessionals are hired to perform and examined how the number and use of paraprofessionals has changed recently.

Status

The PRI committee approved the study topic and scope on May 15, 2014. On September 24, 2014, committee staff presented an interim update to PRI, which was followed by an informational public hearing.

On Wednesday, December 17, 2014, PRI staff presented final study findings and proposed recommendations to the committee for its discussion and action. The committee approved the report and recommendations unanimously. The final committee report is below.
