Students and Justice

All groups must make reservations in advance.
Spaces fill up quickly and we recommend making your reservations at least three weeks before your desired field trip date. Please note that spring dates fill up faster than other times of the year.

Facilitated programs and reduced group rates are only available to groups who have scheduled a visit in advance.

Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled visit.

Teachers and Chaperones:

One teacher/chaperone is required for every ten students and will be admitted at no charge. Additional teachers/chaperones will be charged $5 each, with the exception of paraprofessionals who will be admitted at no charge. Teachers/chaperones must remain with students at all times and actively supervise the visit.

Before you call:

  • Select 2 - 3 potential dates and times for your visit.
  • Know the number of students, teachers and chaperones attending.
  • Select the programs that meet your curriculum needs and let us know if thereI have a question
is a content area you would like emphasized.
  • Decide if you would like to eat lunch at Connecticut's Old State House (see additional information below).
  • Be prepared to tell staff about any special needs or accommodations your students/adults may require.
  • Be prepared to let staff know if you will be visiting another site/museum that day and when.
  • Have your school's phone number and address, and your email address, easily available.

Lunchroom Information:

  • There is a $25 fee for use of the lunchroom for 30 minutes. It comfortably accommodates 40 - 50 students. Depending on the day's schedule, your group may be eating in a room without tables and chairs.
  • Groups are welcome to eat outside at no charge. Students may sit on the building's steps, the lawn or on the benches surrounding the Old State House. Groups that eat outside are responsible for removing their own trash, and indoor space is not guaranteed if there is inclement weather. Groups that move lunch indoors are still responsible for the $25 fee.
  • Groups interested in cafeteria‐style dining may purchase lunch at the adjacent Food Court at State House Square.
