Proposed S.B. No. 597
Session Year 2021

AN ACT CONCERNING THE SUSPENSION OF MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATORS' LICENSES FOR FAILURE TO PAY FINES OR FEES.

To eliminate the duty of the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles to suspend a motor vehicle operator's license for failure to pay any fine or fee associated with a motor vehicle violation as the suspension unfairly punishes residents for unpaid debts and creates a self-defeating vicious cycle exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
