You asked for information about a claims evaluation software program called Colossus.
Colossus is an artificial intelligence software program marketed exclusively by Computer Science Corporation, a Nevada company. It is sold under a licensing agreement to insurance companies for use by their claims departments as a tool in evaluating bodily injury claims. It can be “customized” to satisfy an insurer’s special needs. Tom Scales, Executive Vice-President of Computer Science states that the software is used to “standardize the values” assigned to bodily injuries. The insurer assigns the dollar value of the claim.
Colossus was originally developed in Australia and later converted for American use.
