AN ACT ESTABLISHING FINES FOR VIOLATIONS OF THE ELECTRONIC PRESCRIPTION DRUG MONITORING PROGRAM.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective January 1, 2019) Any person who is required to follow the provisions of the electronic prescription drug monitoring program established pursuant to section 21a-254 of the general statutes who violates any such provision shall, (1) for a first offense, be fined not more than one thousand dollars, and (2) for any subsequent offense, be fined not more than three thousand dollars.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose:

To reduce the number of deaths related to opioid drug prescriptions.
