AN ACT CONCERNING THE APPROVAL OF CERTAIN NEW MUNICIPAL CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS.

SUMMARY

This bill prohibits a municipality's legislative body from approving any new municipal construction project estimated to cost more than $25 million without first allowing for public comment on the project at a properly noticed public hearing in the municipality. The bill does not specify deadlines for posting notice of the hearing.

The bill's public comment requirement applies regardless of any conflicting statute, special act, charter, or ordinance. “Municipalities” are towns, cities, consolidated towns and cities, and consolidated towns and boroughs.
