(Gavel) The House of Representatives will come to order. Members and guests please stand and give your attention to the dias where Kate O. Brown of Darien will lead us in prayer.

Let us pray.

Dear Lord, inspire us in our responses to the pressing needs of Your people. We look to You for guidance so that what we accomplish today may produce a better tomorrow. Amen.

SPEAKER GODFREY (110TH):

Please remain standing where Thomas M. Widden of Darien will lead us all in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Yes, Mr. Speaker, the Clerk has communications from His Excellency, the Governor, dated April 28, 2017.

Also, Mr. Speaker, the Clerk has communications from the Secretary of the State. These are addressed to the Clerk of the House of Representatives.

Dear Mr. Jortner:

This is to advise you that the return of votes cast at the special election held in the 7th Assembly District on April 25, 2017 for the purpose of filling a vacancy in the office of State Representative for said district, states the following candidates received the number of votes annexed to their names:

Rickey Pinckney, Sr. (D) ………………………512

Joshua Malik Hall (WF) ………………………625

Kenneth P. Green (PC) ………………………367

In accordance with Connecticut General Statutes Section 9-215, Joshua Malik Hall will appear before me today to be administered the oath of office.

A copy of the official Statement of Vote signed by the State Board of Canvassers is enclosed.

Dear Mr. Jortner:

In accordance with Connecticut General Statutes Section 9-215, Joe Polletta will appear before me on Monday May 1, 2017 for the oath of office to be administered.

Oh. Sure. What the heck? Well, this is what it would be like to be in the majority, and I like it. [laughing] It's a big battle this year. It's with great pleasure that I enter for the record that students from 5th grade at Ox Ridge School are here. I'm delighted that you are here and welcome you to learn more about our democratic system. Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker.

You're quite welcome. And I'll just welcome you all here too. I hope you have an interesting day. You might learn a couple of things and you're not in class, are you? Yeah that's a good thing. There being no further business on the Clerk's desk, The Chair recognizes distinguished Representative Kevin Ryan.

REP. RYAN (139TH):

Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Mr. Speaker, there being no further business on the Clerk's desk, I move that we adjourn subject to the Call of the Chair.
