Explanation

The amendment requires the Office of the Attorney General to gather, receive, and publish information on the cost of prescription drugs purchased in the state. To the extent that the office lacks expertise in this area, there is potential for significant additional cost to the office in developing or contracting for sufficient expertise.

Additionally, the amendment requires the office to find and publish the cost of every prescription drug sold or distributed in the state, but to do so in such a manner as to avoid revealing proprietary information. Because of the volume and sensitivity of the information involved, there is additional potential cost to comply with the provisions of the amendment.
