Explanation

The amendment requires the Department of Social Services (DSS) to seek a Medicaid state plan amendment to establish a separate Medicaid rate to reimburse federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) for the actual acquisition cost of a long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC). To the extent the amendment is approved by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and FQHCs provide related services to individuals who otherwise would not have received a LARC elsewhere, the state will incur a cost. The actual cost will depend on the number of individuals receiving services and the new Medicaid rate for LARCs at FQHCs.
