AN ACT INCREASING THE AGE FOR WHICH THE PROVISION OF CERTAIN INFORMATION AND COUNSELING IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO AN ABORTION TO PERSONS LESS THAN EIGHTEEN YEARS OF AGE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 19a-600 of the general statutes be amended to redefine "minor" to mean a person who is less than eighteen years of age for purposes of requiring persons who are sixteen and seventeen years of age to receive pregnancy information and counseling under section 19a-601 of the general statutes prior to receiving an abortion.

Statement of Purpose:

To require persons who are sixteen and seventeen years of age to receive pregnancy information and counseling.
