AN ACT CONCERNING A STUDY OF CERTAIN TENANTS OF STATE-FUNDED PUBLIC HOUSING PROJECTS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the Commissioner of Housing be required to conduct a study of three state-funded housing projects in three different towns housing both elderly tenants and younger tenants with disabilities. Such study shall include: (1) The number of residents who are elderly tenants and the number who are younger tenants with disabilities; (2) the rents charged to such residents; (3) the operating costs and the percentage of such costs that are covered by rents received from such residents; (4) information about the use of municipal services and support services by such residents and any gaps in such services; (5) recommendations for additional support services needed for such residents; (6) the number of eviction proceedings initiated against such residents during the last five years; and (7) a summary of the number of evictions initiated against such residents due to a negative incident between a younger tenant with a disability and an elderly tenant during the last five years.
Statement of Purpose:
To research the state-funded public housing projects to ensure adequate and safe state-assisted housing for the elderly and younger persons with disabilities.
