REASONS FOR BILL:

The bill would establish a task force to study and identify various issues relating to the insurance industry and then have the task force report their findings and recommendations to the General Assembly by January 1, 2018.

NATURE AND SOURCES OF SUPPORT:

Eric George, President, Insurance Association of Connecticut supported the legislation and noted that various charitable contributions insurance companies in Connecticut have contributed to the state.

Jennifer Herz, Counsel, Connecticut Business & Industry Association supported the bill and its efforts to maintain a high quality workforce within the state.

Augusto Russel, Professional Insurance Agents of Connecticut appreciated the task force this bill puts together and asked the committee to consider having an insurance agent on the task force for their experience and resources dealing with insurance matters.
