RESPONSE FROM ADMINISTRATION/AGENCY:

None Expressed

NATURE AND SOURCES OF SUPPORT:

Representative James Albis, 99th District:

This would allow for farms/breweries to expand production agriculture in Connecticut by encouraging cultivation of crops such as hops and barley. It would support local business, with the success of farm wineries in Connecticut. Representative Albis thinks that the opportunity is the same for local farm breweries.

Brewers Guild Connecticut:

The Brewers Guild Connecticut represents 26 breweries. The breweries employ 1,150 people and this bill highlights the need to give breweries the tools to grow and flourish in Connecticut. The Connecticut Farm Breweries are at a disadvantage when compared to some of the incentives in neighboring states by allowing increasing sales and providing tools for the farm breweries to grow.

Brett Broesder (Co-founder and Vice President), Campaign for Tomorrows Jobs:

Mr. Broesder states that this bill would be opening more opportunity for Connecticut residents to participate in a booming industry.
