Explanation

The amendment expands eligible expenditures under the Non-Public School Transportation grant. This results in a potential cost to certain local and regional school districts that provide transportation services to students attending nonpublic schools in an adjacent district. These costs will partially be offset by reimbursement through the state Non-Public School Transportation grant. However, since the state grant is currently capped, only a portion of the additional costs will be offset.

The redistribution of the grant will result in a revenue to gain to some municipalities and a corresponding revenue loss to others. The extent of the redistribution would be dependent on the number of municipalities utilizing the expanded eligible expenditures.
