REMARKS BY THE CO-CHAIRS

Sen. Slossberg began the committee meeting with opening remarks. The Senator welcomed members of the committee. The Senator announced that the Education Committee would hold votes open until the start of the first.

Sen. Slossberg turned the meeting over to Education Committee Co-Chair Rep. Fleischmann.

Rep. Fleischmann welcomed members of the committee. Rep. Fleischmann announced that due to the short session this year, bills to be raised by the Education Committee were to be broad in nature.

Rep. Fleischmann turned meeting back over to Sen. Slossberg.

Sen. Slossberg announced that the Education Committee Co-Chairs are available to hear suggestions from all members of the committee.

Sen. Slossberg began with item 3 on the agenda.

Sen. Slossberg called for a motion to raise sub items 1-22.

Rep. Belsito objected to the motion.

Sen. Slossberg called for a motion to raise sub item 1. Motion was made by Sen. Winfield and seconded by Rep. Candelaria. Motion passed unanimously by voice vote.

Sen. Slossberg called for a motion to raise sub item 2. Motion was made by Sen. Winfield and seconded by Rep. Candelaria. Motion passed unanimously by voice vote.

Sen. Slossberg called for a motion to raise sub item 14. Motion was made by Rep. Fleischmann and seconded by Sen. Winfield. Motion passed unanimously by voice vote.

Sen. Slossberg called for a motion to raise sub item 15. Motion was made by Rep. Candelaria and seconded by Rep. Fleischmann. Motion was passed; 30 aye, 1 nay by Rep. Belsito.

Rep. Carter called for a motion to raise remaining sub items 16-22. Motion was seconded by Rep. Fleischmann. Motion passed unanimously by voice vote.

Sen. Slossberg called for a motion to raise sub item 16-22. Motion was made by Rep. Fleischmann and seconded by Rep. Berthel. Motion passed unanimously by voice vote.

Sen. Slossberg announced a public hearing on Wednesday February 24 at 11am in LOB room 2C.

Sen. Slossberg announced that votes would remain open until the start of the first House session and any members needing to record votes were to report to Assistant Committee Clerk Andrew Lampart outside the House Chamber.

RECESS AND ADJOURNMENT

Sen. Slossberg called for a recess at 11:21AM.

Voting closed at 12:20PM outside the House chamber.
