SPONSORS OF BILL:

Substitute Language: Subdivision (2) (L) of subsection (a) of 52-261 is amended to read: for any recording for which the recording fee is not otherwise prescribed by law, a reasonable fee.

REASONS FOR BILL:

This bill establishes a fee payment schedule for any officer or person who records a Notice of Lis Pendens in the office of a town clerk.

NATURE AND SOURCES OF SUPPORT:

Council 4 AFSCME, Mr. Brian Anderson: Mr. Anderson stated this bill will allow state marshals to be compensated for their time and travel that is associated with the filing of any and all real estate recordings under the direction of the plaintiff's attorney to comply with CGS requirements. He requested the change in Section 1 which has been addressed in substitute language.
