REASONS FOR BILL:

The reason for the bill is to ensure that whomever is appointed as the Adjutant General of the Connecticut National Guard is a minimum officer grade of O-5 and has served at least ten years in the National Guard. These new qualifications will ensure that the Adjutant General has the necessary experience in the National Guard to serve in that role.

RESPONSE FROM ADMINISTRATION/AGENCY:

Major General Thaddeus Martin, the Adjutant General of the Connecticut National Guard testified in support of the bill. He stated that this bill will ensure that future Adjutant Generals have the proper military experience and are qualified for the job.
