Explanation

The bill, which restricts how software and information contractors and website, internet service, or mobile application operators can use student information, does not result in a fiscal impact as it impacts private individuals and makes procedural changes.

Additionally, the bill creates a taskforce to study issues related to student data privacy. There may be a cost of less than $1,000 in FY 17 to those agencies participating in the task force to reimburse legislators and agency staff for mileage expenses.

House “A” struck the underlying bill and replaced it with the fiscal impact identified above.

The Out Years

There are no costs in the out years, as the taskforce terminates on or before January 1, 2017.

The preceding Fiscal Impact statement is prepared for the benefit of the members of the General Assembly, solely for the purposes of information, summarization and explanation and does not represent the intent of the General Assembly or either chamber thereof for any purpose.
