AN ACT CONCERNING RECOMMENDATIONS AND MEMBERSHIP OF THE SCHOOL NURSE ADVISORY COUNCIL.

SUMMARY:

This bill adds a representative of the Connecticut Association of Schools to the membership of the School Nurse Advisory Council. It also removes the requirement that the member representing the Association of School Nurses of Connecticut be employed in a private or parochial school.

Additionally, the bill requires each school nurse or nurse practitioner to complete the school nurse orientation program offered by (1) the State Department of Education (SDE), (2) the Association of School Nurses of Connecticut, and (3) any regional education service center within one year of being hired, unless he or she previously completed the program.

Finally, the bill requires school boards to annually complete SDE's health services program information survey.

EFFECTIVE DATE: October 1, 2016
