OFA Bill Analysis
AN ACT CONCERNING A REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE PROVISION OF HEALTH CARE SERVICES AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CARE SERVICES TO INMATES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION.
The bill requires the Office of Policy and Management (OPM) to issue a request for qualifications for the provision of medical care to inmates under the care and custody of the Department of Correction. In addition, OPM must report its findings to the General Assembly and if it finds qualified vendors, must issue a request for proposals.
EFFECTIVE DATE: Upon passage

The provision of inmate medical care is currently provided through a contract with the University of Connecticut Health Center that started in 1997.
