AN ACT CONCERNING THE TIMING OF THE SUBMISSION OF THE PAINT STEWARDSHIP PROGRAM'S ANNUAL REPORT.

SUMMARY:

This bill extends by two months, from August 15 to October 15, the deadline by which the annual report on the state's paint stewardship program must be submitted to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

By law, the nonprofit organization created by paint producers to implement the program submits the report. The report must include, among other things, (1) a description of the methods used to collect, transport, and process the paint; (2) the volume and type of paint collected; (3) the total cost to implement the program; and (4) an evaluation of the program's funding mechanism.

EFFECTIVE DATE: Upon passage

BACKGROUND

Paint Stewardship Program

The paint stewardship program provides consumers and businesses with a way to manage unused architectural paint. Unused paint may be dropped off, for no fee, at various locations around the state. The program is funded by an assessment added to the purchase price of paint covered by the program.
