Explanation

The amendment results in a potential savings to the State Department of Education (SDE) as local and regional school districts could offer progress monitoring tests to students that are nationally recognized college readiness assessments rather that the current SBACs. Such savings would be due to the administration of fewer tests by SDE.

Local and regional school districts may elect to provide the national assessment at no costs to students and therefore incur a cost.
