Explanation

The amendment strikes the underlying bill and its associated fiscal impact.

The amendment bans the importation, sale, purchase, and bartering of certain animal ivory or associated products.

It establishes a new fine, of at least $1,000 (or twice the value of the product) for first-time violators. It is anticipated that less than 4 violations may occur, resulting in a revenue gain of less than 4,000 annually.
