Explanation

The amendment will result in a savings associated with limiting state assistance and benefits to individuals who have resided in the state for at least two-years. This would apply to a range of state assistance including subsidized housing, child care benefits, and cash and medical assistance. The number of people this would apply to is unknown. For purposes of context, the Department of Social Services serves approximately 802,571 people via Medicaid, Temporary Family Assistance, Assistance to the Aged, Blind, and Disabled, and State Assisted General Assistance with total combined state funding of approximately $2.5 billion. The amendment would affect an unknown subset of this population.
