AN ACT PROTECTING EMPLOYEE ONLINE PRIVACY.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

The general statutes be amended to (1) prohibit employers from requesting access to personal online accounts of employees or job applicants; (2) prohibit employers from requiring employees to accept an employer into a private online group on a social media site; and (3) prohibit retaliation or refusal to hire based on an employee's or applicant's refusal to provide such access.

Statement of Purpose:

To protect the online social media privacy of employees and job applicants.
