"AN ACT CONCERNING THE TASK FORCE ON DOMESTIC WORKERS. "

After the last section, add the following and renumber sections and internal references accordingly:

"Sec. 501. Subsections (j) and (k) of section 5-155a of the general statutes are repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective from passage):

(j) Any claim for a pension or any other benefit which may become available in accordance with the provisions of this chapter may be submitted to the commission provided it is submitted in writing. Any such claim will be reviewed and decided by the commission not later than sixty days from the date the commission receives such submission. The claimant shall be advised of the processing status of his claim upon reasonable request.

(k) If any claim is denied, in whole or in part, the commission shall provide written notice of such denial to the claimant not later than ten days after the date the commission has decided such claim. Such notice shall include (1) the legal and factual grounds for the commission's denial, (2) notice of the claimant's right to request a hearing to review and reconsider the denial, and (3) information describing the proper procedures for making such request. Not later than thirty days after receiving the notice of denial, a claimant may request that the decision be reviewed and reconsidered by the commission. [Thereafter, any such case] Not later than thirty days after receiving the claimant's request, the commission shall hold a hearing that shall be decided as a contested case in accordance with chapter 54.

(l) The commission shall not reduce, suspend or terminate any benefits received by a member pursuant to this chapter unless the member has first been provided (1) notice of such reduction, suspension or termination, and (2) an opportunity to be heard. Such notice shall include (A) the legal and factual grounds for the reduction, suspension or termination of benefits, (B) notice of the member's right to request a hearing to contest such reduction, suspension or termination, and (C) information describing the proper procedures for making such request. Not later than thirty days after receiving the notice of reduction, suspension or termination of benefits, the member may request a hearing. Not later than thirty days after receiving the member's request, the commission shall hold a hearing that shall be decided as a contested case in accordance with chapter 54."

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:
