AN ACT PROMOTING THE SAFETY AND WELL-BEING OF STATE RESIDENTS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That (1) title 20 of the general statutes be amended to impose a professional duty on any mental health professional licensed by the Department of Public Health to take such action as the professional deems necessary to ensure that a patient does not commit foreseeable acts of harm against others; (2) section 29-37i of the general statutes be amended to require all firearms to be secured in a locked box or container in the home if a resident of the home is under a conservatorship; and (3) section 29-38c of the general statutes be amended to require any person to notify police not later than twenty-four hours after learning of an imminent threat of harm or death made by a person who has access to firearms or explosive devices.
Statement of Purpose:
To enact various statutory measures for the promotion of public safety.
