AN ACT INCREASING THE PENALTY FOR CRIMINAL USE OF A FIREARM OR ELECTRONIC DEFENSE WEAPON.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 53a-216 of the general statutes be amended to increase the penalty for criminal use of a firearm or electronic defense weapon from a class D felony to a class C felony.

Statement of Purpose:

To increase the penalty for criminal use of a firearm or electronic defense weapon from a class D felony to a class C felony.
