Strike lines 592 to 598, inclusive, in their entirety and substitute the following in lieu thereof:

"(e) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsections (a) to (d), inclusive, of this section, the Commissioner of Consumer Protection shall adopt regulations, in accordance with chapter 54, to amend sections 21a-243-7 and 21a-243-8 of the regulations of Connecticut state agencies to reclassify marijuana as a controlled substance in schedule II under the Connecticut controlled substance scheduling regulations, provided the commissioner has received written notice from the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut that (1) such reclassification does not violate any provision of federal law, or (2) the office of the United States Attorney will not initiate prosecution of any person as a result of such reclassification."
