AN ACT CONCERNING VOTING RIGHTS.

AMENDMENT

LCO No.: 5121

File Copy No.: 603

House Calendar No.: 243

Senate Calendar No.: 443

OFA Fiscal Note

State Impact: None

Municipal Impact: See Below

Explanation

The amendment requires voters who want to register on Election Day to submit an application online. Once an application is approved, registrars of voters must send a notice to the elector instructing him or her to appear at the designated Election Day registration location.

There is a minimal savings to municipalities associated with reduced printing of Election Day registration applications. It is not known at this time how online voter registration would impact municipal staffing levels to administer Election Day Registration or how it would impact the Election Day registration confirmation process.
