After the last section, add the following and renumber sections and internal references accordingly:

"Sec. 501. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2011) For the school year commencing July 1, 2011, the local or regional board of education, in consultation with the bus company operating under a contract with the board for the provision of school transportation services for the school district, shall develop a policy regarding a system of notification alerting the parents and guardians of students receiving school transportation services that a school bus will be more than thirty minutes late to the bus stop. Such policy shall include, but not be limited to, the manner and means in which such notice will be made available to parents and guardians, the sharing of student contact information between the board of education and the bus company and means of protecting students' privacy, and the provision of alternate transportation in the event of an emergency. The local or regional board of education shall make such policy available on such board's web site or the web site of each school under such board's jurisdiction, or if such web sites do not exist, make such plan publicly available through other practicable means as determined by such board. "
