AN ACT CONCERNING DISSECTION CHOICE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That title 10 of the general statutes be amended to prohibit local and regional school districts from requiring any student that raises a conscientious objection to perform any surgical or anatomical experiments or dissections on any animal as part of classroom instruction, and that such local and regional school districts shall provide alternative methods of dissection, such as simulated models, plastic models, computer programs, images and Internet sources, that students may perform in lieu of dissection of animals.

Statement of Purpose:

To allow students to conscientiously object to performing dissections in the classroom.
