TOWN OF RESIDENCE OF INCARCERATED INMATES | ||
| ||
By: Christopher Reinhart, Senior Attorney |
You asked for the town of residence of inmates currently incarcerated.
According to the Department of Correction (DOC), there were 18,303 inmates incarcerated on March 10, 2010. Inmates report a town of residence at their time of admission. Table 1 displays the 169 Connecticut towns and how many inmates reported each as their residence at the time of their admission to prison. The five towns with the largest number of incarcerated inmates are Hartford (2,631), New Haven (2,051), Bridgeport (1,860), Waterbury (1,524), and New Britain (809). The towns with the smallest number are Bridgewater and Sherman (0 each) and East Granby, Lyme, Morris, Redding, Union, and Warren (one each). In addition, 790 inmates reported an out-of-state address and DOC reported 181 inmates with an unknown or unrecorded address.
