Explanation

The amendment strikes the underlying bill and its associated fiscal impact.

It creates conditions related to the sale of dogs or cats by pet shop licensees, and establishes a $500 reimbursement level for veternarian costs incurred by consumers for cats or dog is sold with a congenital defect, under certain conditions. There is no fiscal impact to the state or municipalities anticipated under this amendment.

There are about 115 pet shop licensees in the state, about half of which sell cats or dogs.
