Explanation

The amendment requires the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS)  to study correlations between marijuana use and schizophrenia,  as well as any increased incidence of schizophrenia in the state due to the passage of the underlying bill. It is expected that a study of this magnitude will result in significant increased costs to DMHAS. It is unclear whether the department would require additional staff or contract with an outside entity to conduct this study. The extent of these costs will be dependent upon study design, scope and duration.
