Explanation

The amendment decreases from less than half an ounce to less than one gram the amount of marijuana for which possession by an individual age 18 or older is treated as a violation. This decreases the number of arrests and court cases which would be treated as violations under the bill, which results in a reduction in the potential savings identified in the bill. It also results in a reduction in the revenue gain to the Judicial Department identified in the bill.
