AN ACT TO PROHIBIT THE OPERATOR OF A MOTOR VEHICLE FROM TYPING A TEXT MESSAGE WHILE OPERATING SUCH MOTOR VEHICLE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 248 of the general statutes be amended to prohibit a motor vehicle operator from typing a text message while operating such motor vehicle and to provide that a violation thereof shall be punishable by a fine of five hundred dollars.

Statement of Purpose:

To prohibit a motor vehicle operator from typing a text message while operating such motor vehicle.
