Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to provide that whenever a person is evicted pursuant to summary process, subject to ejectment pursuant to a judgment of foreclosure, or arrested and removed from their place of residence, the applicable authority shall inquire whether there are any pets on the premises that will be abandoned. If there are such pets, the authority shall notify the local animal control officer or the Department of Agriculture, as appropriate.

Statement of Purpose:

To provide for reporting of potentially abandoned animals in the event of eviction, foreclosure or arrest.
