SB 40—AN ACT CONCERNING SUPPORTIVE HOUSING

This bill authorizes up to an additional $35 million in state bonding to fund the construction or renovation of additional units of supportive housing through the “Next Steps Initiative.”

SB 497—AN ACT AUTHORIZING BONDS OF THE STATE FOR UNITED COMMUNITY AND FAMILY SERVICES IN NORWICH

The bill authorizes up to $2 million in state bonding for use by the Department of Public Health (DPH) for a grant-in-aid to United Community and Family Services in Norwich.

EFFECTIVE DATE: July 1, 2008

sSB 498—AN ACT AUTHORIZING BONDS OF THE STATE FOR A FACILITY IN MANCHESTER FOR PERSONS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

This bill authorizes up to $5 million in state bonding to the Department of Developmental Services for a grant-in-aid to MARC, Inc. of Manchester for the construction of a facility to provide services to people with developmental disabilities.

SB 578—AN ACT CONCERNING LICENSING FEES PAID BY NURSES TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

This bill changes the license renewal period for registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs), and nurse-midwives from one to two years and reduces their licensing fees. The current and proposed fees are as follows:

HB 5631—AN ACT CONCERNING AN INCOME TAX DEDUCTION FOR EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH ORGAN DONATION

This bill provides a tax deduction of up to $10,000 for lost wages, out-of-pocket medical expenses, and travel and lodging expenses incurred by a taxpayer in the taxable year in connection with a human organ donation.

EFFECTIVE DATE: July 1, 2008, and applicable to taxable years commencing on or after January 1, 2008.

HB 5728—AN ACT CONCERNING TAX INCENTIVES FOR BUSINESSES WITH ON-SITE HEALTH CARE CLINICS

This bill provides a tax credit to business entities that provide health care services to individuals through the use of on-site health care clinics.

EFFECTIVE DATE: July 1, 2008, and applicable to income or taxable years commencing on or after January 1, 2008.

HB 5729—AN ACT AUTHORIZING BONDS OF THE STATE FOR HARBOR HEALTH SERVICES, INC.

This bill authorized up to $500,000 in state bonding to the Department of Mental health and Addiction Services for a grant-in-aid to Harbor Health Services, Inc. for the purchase of a new facility to provide services to adults with serious and persistent mental health or substance abuse disorders.

HB 5862—AN ACT CONCERNING A TAX CREDIT FOR CERTAIN MEDICAL EXPENSES

This bill provides a tax credit up to $500 to taxpayers with adjusted gross income under $75,000 to assist in covering the costs of out-of-pocket, non-reimbursable medical expenses.

EFFECTIVE DATE: Upon passage and applicable to taxable years commencing on or after January 1, 2008.
