Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2008) The Department of Higher Education, in consultation with the president of The University of Connecticut and the chancellors of the regional community-technical colleges and the Connecticut State University system, shall develop a uniform security protocol for the constituent units of higher education for purposes of sections 10a-55 to 10a-55c, inclusive, of the general statutes. The security protocol shall be written and disseminated to all staff and faculty at public institutions of higher education.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

July 1, 2008

To develop and disseminate a uniform written security protocol to the constituent units.
