SPONSORS OF BILL:

Education Committee

REASONS FOR BILL:

The bill ensures that charter schools are in accord with the intent of the law that governs their operation. The bill requires a charter school's governing council to comply with current membership requirements at all times – not just at the time of charter application or renewal.

Substitute Language:

The substitute language ensures that student records follow the student in a timely manner when a transfer from one school district to another takes place. The bill extends the existing student records transfer law to state charter schools to guarantee that this transfer of documents takes place for students entering of leaving state charter schools.
