Explanation

The amendment strikes the bill and eliminates the fiscal impact stated in the original fiscal note on file copy #260.

The amendment requires scrap metal dealers to collect and maintain documents and photographs of individuals selling them scrap metal for at least two years. It also requires them to make such information available to law enforcement. More than one violation of this requirement could result in suspension of a dealer's permit by the licensing municipality. Municipalities are required under provisions of this amendment to hold a hearing within 10 days. Municipalities can perform provisions of this amendment within their existing budgetary resources.

The preceding Fiscal Impact statement is prepared for the benefit of the members of the General Assembly, solely for the purposes of information, summarization and explanation and does not represent the intent of the General Assembly or either chamber thereof for any purpose.
