AN ACT CONCERNING REFUNDS OF PREPAID PREMIUM PAYMENTS MADE BY SENIORS TO HEALTH INSURANCE PROVIDERS FOR MEDICARE SUPPLEMENT PLANS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to require that a health insurance provider shall refund any prepaid premium payments made by a senior for coverage under a Medicare supplement plan who then chooses to cancel his or her policy prior to the expiration of the coverage period.

Statement of Purpose:

To protect seniors who choose to prepay their Medicare supplement plan premiums by making it affordable for such seniors to switch providers without losing their prepaid premiums.
