AN ACT CONCERNING MARRIAGE RECOGNITION.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) Notwithstanding the provisions of subdivision (4) of section 45a-727a of the general statutes, any marriage or substantially equivalent relationship between two persons celebrated in another state, territory or possession of the United States or another country and in conformity with the law of such other jurisdiction shall be valid and recognized in this state.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: | ||

Statement of Purpose:
To recognize marriages and substantially similar relationships entered into outside this state that are valid under the laws of the jurisdiction where such marriage or relationship was entered into.
