AN ACT CONCERNING PARENTAL NOTIFICATION OF MEDICAL PROCEDURES ON MINORS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 19a-600 of the general statutes be amended to revise the definition of "minor", such that, a "minor" shall be a person who is less than eighteen years of age; and that section 19a-601 of the general statutes be amended to provide that unless a court of competent jurisdiction orders otherwise, a medical provider shall have an affirmative duty, to inform a parent or legal guardian of an unemancipated minor, that such minor seeks to undergo a medical procedure, prior to the medical provider performing such medical procedure.
Statement of Purpose:
To amend the definition of minor with respect to situations when an unemancipated minor shall be required to notify a parent or legal guardian prior to undergoing a medical procedure.
