Explanation

The amendment appropriates $600, 000 to the Office of Policy and Management for the purposes of a grant for prison post-release transition services provided by the Connecticut Puerto Rican Forum (CPRF) .1 As funds have not already been appropriated for this purpose, passage of the amendment would result in costs. To the extent that the program’s services reduce recidivism and prevent offenders from returning to the criminal justice system, there would be potential savings.

The preceding Fiscal Impact statement is prepared for the benefit of the members of the General Assembly, solely for the purposes of information, summarization and explanation and does not represent the intent of the General Assembly or either House thereof for any purpose.

1 The CPRF was established in 1993. The Forum serves over 500 clients a year and offers a variety of services to the community at large including educational and job readiness programs.
