Motor Vehicle Recyclers: Penalty. Injunction to restrain violation

Establishing, owning, maintaining, or operating a motor vehicle recycler yard or business (junk yard) within a restricted district or without a certificate of approval, or violating other provisions of the motor vehicle recycler law, results in a fine or imprisonment. Additionally, the motor vehicles commissioner may apply to Superior Court where the junkyard is located to abate it as a public nuisance.

A violator may be fined up to $ 100 or imprisoned up to 90 days, or both. Additionally, the commissioner may take action to discontinue or abate a violation as a public nuisance.

CGS § 14-310

Traffic Control: Fraudulent or obstructive signs and signal

No one may place, maintain, or display an unauthorized sign, signal, marking, or device, on or in sight of a highway, that (1) resembles, or purports to be, an official traffic control device or railroad sign; (2) attempts to direct traffic movement; or (3) that blocks from view an official sign, signal, marking, or device. No one may place advertising on a traffic sign or signal.

The traffic authority having jurisdiction over a highway where someone places something illegally may remove such an item as a public nuisance.

A violator may be fined up to $ 5,000, imprisoned up to 30 days, or both. Additionally, violators are subject to suspension or revocation of:

    1. vehicle registration

    2. license

    3. the right to operate a vehicle
