Explanation
State Impact:
Eliminating the licensure program for physical therapy assistants will reduce the cost to the Department of Public Health (DPH) associated with the original bill by $45,031 in FY 01 and $42,431 in subsequent fiscal years as one fewer position will be required. FY 02 savings are less than first year savings as one time equipment purchases would occur in FY 01.
A corresponding revenue loss of $67,500 would occur in FY 01 as license application fees would not be collected. A minimal revenue loss would occur in subsequent fiscal years as only newly licensed persons would pay the $150 fee.
