MEETING MINUTES

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 21, 2001

11:30 A.M. in Hearing Room 1D

The meeting was called to order at 11:40 a.m. by Speaker Moira K. Lyons.

The following committee members were present:

Senators: Kevin B. Sullivan 5; Louis C. DeLuca 32; Joseph J. Crisco, Jr. 17; David J. Cappiello 24

Representatives: Moira K. Lyons 146; Robert M. Ward 86; Melody A. Currey 10;

Arthur J. O’Neill 69

Speaker Moira Lyons indicated that this was an organizational committee meeting to elect chairs of this committee. A motion was made by Representative Robert Ward and seconded by Senator Kevin Sullivan to elect the Speaker of the House and the Minority Leader of the Senate as co-chairs. The motion was approved by a unanimous voice vote.

The committee also suggested that public hearings would not be held until after the close of session, sometime this summer. Senator Louis DeLuca agreed, but stated that the committee should meet within a few weeks to make other organizational decisions including the number of public hearings to be held. Senator Kevin Sullivan requested that the redistricting office prepare a report for the committee describing the redistricting public hearing procedure followed ten years ago.

Speaker Moira Lyons made a motion to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 11:50 a.m.
